Project 2: Huynh Van Nghe School, Vietnam

Date: November 28 – 29, 2024 Impact: 36 Laptops Donated / 60+ Students, Faculty, and Officials Educated

Overview: Expanding Our Footprint in Vietnam

Following the success in Cambodia, our second mission marked our official expansion into Vietnam. This project was the result of eight months of strategic planning, demonstrating our commitment to building a scalable and sustainable model for digital equity.

The Journey: From Corporate Office to Classroom

Technical Preparation at AWS Vietnam (Nov 28): Our mission began at the AWS Vietnam office, where we personally inspected, deep-cleaned, and refurbished the 36 donated laptops. This hands-on phase was crucial to ensure that every device was optimized and software-ready for an intensive educational environment.

On-the-Ground Logistics (Nov 29): After finalizing the hardware, we traveled by bus to Huynh Van Nghe School. This journey allowed us to transition from the corporate tech environment directly to the heart of the community we serve, ensuring a seamless delivery of resources.

Advanced Digital & Hardware Curriculum

The educational sessions were attended by 60 participants, including students, faculty members, and local officials.

Academic Integrity & Safety: We delivered essential lectures on digital plagiarism, teaching the importance of original thought in the age of information. We also provided practical training on online and social media safety.

Interactive Hardware Engineering: To promote our "Repair, Don't Replace" philosophy, we conducted a live demonstration by disassembling a laptop to reveal its internal architecture, explaining the critical functions of the CPU, RAM, and Storage.

Self-Sufficiency Training: We empowered the school community with troubleshooting and maintenance skills, ensuring that the technology remains a functional long-term asset.

Reflections

From the technical deep-dive at the AWS office to the final presentation at the school, this two-day mission reinforced the power of bridging the gap between corporate resources and educational needs. Seeing the community's engagement confirms that providing the right tools—and the knowledge to maintain them—is the key to a sustainable digital future.
